The 2020 Paulding County Fair is only 4 weeks away. The Senior and Junior Fair Boards have been working on this fair since the close of 2019 fair, then Coronavirus hit. The State of Ohio has been under a stay at home order since March 15th, 2020 and was extended twice to May 29th, 2020. This also included a mandate for no “Fairs, Festivals or Parades” which have not been lifted as of today and only groups of 10 people are allowed. On May 11th, both the Senior and Junior Fair board had a Zoom meeting, with the Paulding County Health Department and Paulding County Commissioners. It was decided by all parties that for the safety and wellbeing of the Paulding County residences, the 2020 Paulding County Fair cannot happen this year. Based on recent COVID-19 trends in Ohio, we as a collective group had to make this hard decision, for the community.
The Senior and Junior Fair boards are still looking at ways to have a “Add-on” auction and do have packers lined up for all the animals except poultry, if the youth decide to go that route. To help with compensation of their completed projects. The youth still need to complete Quality Assurance and Skillathon they are then considered a completed project, to be able to sell their animal to the packers we lined up. Judging for still life projects are still planned for some time in July, as well. Once this has all calmed down, we hope to have a Fun Day sometime in the fall, for all the 4-H/FFA youth of the county. We will also still be doing King and Queen and Outstanding Livestocker.
We are one, Paulding Strong!
